I met Favour after the event wrapped up, and just so happened to be catching the same train home. Her story stopped me in my tracks. Originally from Nigeria, Favour moved to Sweden at 16. It was a three month trip from Nigeria to Italy, and along the way, found herself in multiple life-threatening situations—times when she easily could’ve lost her life. But somehow, every single time, she was miraculously spared.
Before starting her journey, Favour wasn’t sure if her mother’s faith in Jesus was real or worth trusting. But by the end of her travels, there was no doubt in her mind—she knew Jesus was real and had protected her throughout it all. Once she made it to Sweden, she was welcomed into a foster family, enrolled in school, and began building a new life.
“Do not pity me, hear the testimony of God’s powerful hand on my life. See how good he is?”
These were her words to me, while my brains spun trying to compute how the girl standing in front of me could share her story with such authority. This is a woman of faith, her trust in God infiltrating the hospital she works at, and the Youth she leads every Friday night.
It is no small thing to serve a leader in a youth group, your testimony will exemplify the power of God.
