Despite his friends trying to pull him back into distractions, he couldn’t get enough of God’s presence. It was as if nothing else mattered. He was changed—and the boy who walked in carrying pain, left with a heart set free.
This is a story of a teenage boy who came to one our gatherings in Herrnhut, Germany. Invited by a friend, he wasn’t sure what to expect. But when the moment came to respond to Jesus, he walked to the front of the room to receive the love that his heart was so deeply in need of. He found himself about to extend forgiveness because his heart was healed. The heaviness of bitterness lifted, and he was filled with peace. He had encountered the very presence of God, and it had changed him and not even his friends could pull him away.
Over 100 years ago, a community of people committed to prayer in the very same city, Herrnhut. The Moravians held the longest prayer burn recorded in history, 100 years. Many of them moved across the globe, becoming the answer to their prayers for God to save the lost. On the very same ground, hundreds of years later, this boy has life changing encounter on the very same ground.
Who knows maybe he too will pray like the Moravians for God to save his friends, family, country and be sent to proclaim the good news of the gospel?
